James Velasquez

James Gaviola Velasquez is currently the President and Country General Manager for IBM Philippines, responsible for the overall IBM business operations in the Philippines.
Having been in the IT Industry for 20 years, he has held several key local and regional executive positions. Highlights include regional assignment as the Executive Assistant to the Regional General Manager in IBM ASEAN/South Asia, General Manager for Integrated Technology Services in IBM ASEAN/SA, Country Manager for Services in the Philippines and Vietnam/Indochina and as President of CITE Incorporated.
Mr. James Velasquez moved from Davao started his ties with Letran as a Grade 4 student under Ms. Angelica Alcid. He transferred to Angelicum in Quezon City where he finished his elementary schooling. He came back as a first year student in Letran High School, served as 1st Battalion commander of the defunct Citizen Army Training and graduated high school in 1983. He continued his studies at the University of Santo Tomas earning a degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering.
Mr. Velasquez is one of the recipients of the UST Engineering Centennial Awards (2007) in the field of Industry Leadership and recently, he was conferred again by the University of Santo Tomas as on of the University’s TOTAL awardee.
James Velasquez also serves as Chairman of IBM Philippines, Inc., Chairman of ISD Incorporated, Director of Asia Pacific College and a member of the following organizations; Management Association of the Philippines, The Makati Business Club, the Philippine Business for Social Progress and AMCHAM.
Active in various government programs, he participated in the formulation of the National Innovation Strategy under the Filipino ovation Initiative of DOST, IP Phil, AIM and IBM. He currently supports various ICT councils in the Philippines.
James Gaviola Velasquez was one of the key persons in the HS Class 1983 which celebrated their silver jubilee last November 22, 2008 in the Letran Grounds. |
