PROCEDURES FOR THE ELECTION OF MEMBERS OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
The Electoral Committee shall conduct the elections for the members of the Board in accordance with the following electoral procedures to be approved by the Board and promulgated among the General Membership.
Nomination Procedures
- Nominations for candidates shall be open to the general membership of the Association and must be submitted to the Secretariat on or before November 18, 2009.
- Requirements for a valid nomination are as follows:
- The nominee must be a member in good standing.
- The nominee must have been nominated by a member in good standing.
- The nomination must be accompanied by the following:
- Acceptance of the nomination
- Bio-data of the nominee properly signed by the nominee himself
- An ID photo of the nominee
- As defined in the By-laws of the Association, the following are considered members in good standing and qualified to vote:
- A member with the new Alumni ID
- An alumni without an alumni ID but secures one before exercising his right to vote
- Honorary members and lifetime members
Posting of Candidacy
- The Secretariat, at the instance of the Electoral Committee, shall post in an orderly manner within the election premises on the day of the elections a uniform poster indicating the names of all qualified candidates and the course(s) and year(s) they have graduated.
Disqualification
- No member of the Electoral Committee shall be a candidate for election.
- Any duly elected and qualified Director who has resigned from his position cannot be nominated as a candidate in the election preceding his earlier election.
- Any duly elected and qualified Director who failed to attend three consecutive regular Board meetings cannot be nominated as a candidate in the election preceding his earlier election.
Voting Procedures
- Each active regular member of the Association in good standing as defined in Section 2.0 above shall be entitled to vote.
- A member shall be entitled to cast one vote for as many persons as there are Directors to be elected, giving each candidate one vote and voting only for the number of Directors to be elected.
- Each member must cast his vote in person in the voting booth and to drop the same in the ballot box. Proxy voting is not allowed.
- The election shall be held at a designated area by the electoral committee from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon on November 21, 2009 and from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Letran Campus.
- The counting of votes shall commence at 7:00 PM on November 21, 1999.
Canvassing and Proclamation
- The Electoral Committee shall count and tabulate votes cast for all candidates. The canvassing procedures shall star at 7:00 PM on November 21, 1999.
- The Chairman of the Electoral Committee shall proclaim the winning candidates immediately after the completion of the counting and canvassing
